ABB Extends Amber Road Solution to its Worldwide Group to Enhance Key Global Trade Management Functions
Global group's selection of Amber Road follows successful ABB Switzerland implementation
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ, December 4, 2013 -- Amber Road, a leading provider of global trade management solutions (GTM), today announced that ABB, a leader in power and automation technologies for utilities and industrial companies, has signed a new global contract covering Amber Road's GTM solution.
The agreement expands the existing ABB Switzerland implementation, enabling the ABB Group of businesses around the world to optimize landed cost analysis and sourcing decisions. The contract also includes a worldwide license for Amber Road's Global Product Master (GPM), which will provide ABB a centralized repository for harmonized schedule (HS) classifications and other import and export data. ABB intends to roll out the Amber Road solution during the first quarter of 2014.
Enhanced automation to support worldwide supply chain logistics
ABB's expanded relationship with Amber Road is part of an ongoing drive to upgrade its worldwide supply chain and logistics operations. This includes adopting new online tools for coordinating trade management in its subsidiaries and businesses, enhancing import and export processes, and maximizing benefits under preferential programs such as free trade agreements.
ABB Group selected the Amber Road solution primarily because of the depth of its Global Knowledge® trade content database, its industry-leading functional capabilities, and the fast implementation process. Amber Road's solution is deployed in the Cloud.
Jim Preuninger, CEO of Amber Road, adds: "ABB is yet another example of a forward-thinking company that is taking a strategic approach to global trade by standardizing and centralizing many GTM functions. We look forward to continuing a strong relationship with ABB which was started with a successful engagement in Switzerland."
